A quarter of Ukrainian enterprises reduced salaries

Четверть украинских предприятий сократили зарплаты работникам

Two thirds of companies will take up to a year to restore it after the quarantine.

A third of Ukrainian companies are ready soon to resume work offline or to go back to the office, reports Ukrainian business Association (EBA) the results of a survey of its member companies. 16% of respondents reported that it has already returned to work or did not cease for a period of quarantine in connection with the peculiarities of the activities of the company. Another 15% do not plan to return to the office, or have not yet decided on the final date.

With regard to changes in office work, 42% expect to implement a flexible shift schedule. Another 13% would recommend their employees to continue working from home. A phased return to work (starting with 25% of workers in the office with possible increase to 50%) are about 20% of the companies. Another 17% of enterprises are ready to enter 50% of the employees from the first weeks with a possible extension up to 75%.

“Based on the experience of the past few months, 62% of Directors said they are considering the option of full or partial change of the operation mode on the remote on a regular basis. Most of them are willing to allow up to 50% of staff to work remotely”, – reported in the EBA.

Curious is the case of wages:

  • 62% of companies were able to maintain salaries intact;
  • 23% of companies have cut salaries;
  • 7%, on the contrary, increased wages for certain categories of employees;
  • 3% sent certain categories of workers on unpaid leave.

“To retain staff of the company in the same line-managed 82% of businesses and 8% even now looking for new employees. Accordingly, 11% of companies have been forced to reduce its staff”, – is spoken in the message.

If to speak about financial results of two months of quarantine, the majority of businesses have reported losses:

  • 36% of respondents have received up to 20% loss of income;
  • 28% – at the level of 20-50%;
  • 18% – 50-75% loss of income;
  • 11% reported that no changes have occurred;
  • 3% were able to increase revenue to 20%.

We will remind, on may 22 started the second stage of weakening of quarantine, where Ukraine goes to the adaptive model. The government also softens the nationwide restrictions in the regions where the epidemic situation allows.
