Company J. D. Power published its latest research on the effectiveness, functionality and layout of the car (APEAL), which showed that the level of satisfaction of consumers of the new vehicle increases.
In the sample were new owners of vehicles from the date of purchase which has passed less than 90 days. Respondents were asked to estimate attributes 90 cars in 10 different categories, which include everything from driving dynamics to determine how well the infotainment system.
This year, the average level of satisfaction amounted to 823 points out of 1,000, and it is somewhat more than in previous year (820). While 22 of the 32 brands covered by the survey, showed improvements compared to 2018.
The highest-ranking brand was Porsche, with a score of 891. Second place was shared by BMW and Genesis – 868 for them – Audi (867) and Volvo (863).
The greatest number of victories went to Ford, because Expedition, F-150, Ranger, Super Duty and Lincoln Navigator was named the best in its class. On its heels comes the BMW with four victories – 2-Series, X4, MINI Cooper and MINI Countryman.
Among others, it is worth noting Chevrolet Blazer, GMC Terrain, Honda Accord / Odyssey, Nissan Altima / Maxima and Toyota Camry / Yaris. Completing the list of Mercedes C-Class, Dodge Challenger and Kia Forte.
According to the Vice-President of JD Power’s global automotive, Dave Sargent, the satisfaction level of your car increases, but the space for improvement is still there, and this infotainment field. Also on the degree of satisfaction is influenced by safety performance indicators (e.g. built-in functions of blind spot monitoring, collision prevention and warning of leaving the lane). These results should be a signal to automakers, because it is the first steps towards global automated driving.
