Global iOS update 13 promises to be really interesting – the developers have prepared for users to do a greater number of innovations and changes. However, this is not the whole list. Recently it became known that Apple is going more and empower NFС. It is reported by reputable developer Steve Troughton-Smith.
Initially, the NFC chip iPhone could only be used for contactless payments using Apple Pay. But soon things can change – in the words of enthusiast, Apple will provide developers access to read NFC tags based on the ISO 7816 standards, FeliCa and MiFare.
If the above information is true, users will be able to use the iPhone as an “electronic key”. To unlock the digital locks on the basis of NFC, pass the turnstiles, to pay fares on buses or the metro (if a transportation card).
The source claims that the given NFC tag to be stored in the Wallet app. To activate them will be as easy as to pay for a purchase using Apple Pay.
In 2017, the company presented the Core NFC, which opened partial access to the NFC module developers, though with many restrictions. Apparently, it was not enough for productive use.
At the moment the advanced capabilities of the chip is actively being tested by Apple employees. The company is expected to talk in more detail about the new features of NFC worldwide developers conference WWDC 2019, which will be held from 3 to 7 June in San Jose, California.
