A potentially hazardous asteroid in a few weeks will fly past our planet. This is reported by network sources, referring to information obtained from National management of the USA on Aeronautics and space research (NASA).
We are talking about the object with the designation of 1998 OR2. It was discovered on 24 July 1998 in the framework of the NEAT (Near-Earth Asteroid Tracking), aimed at tracking near-earth asteroids. By the way, this program was phased out in 2007.
According to various estimates body 1998 OR2 is in diameter from 1.8 to 4.1 km. the Collision with the object would be to Land in disastrous consequences.
However, the asteroid poses no real threat to our planet. During the upcoming flyby, April 29, the object will pass at a distance of about 6.2 million kilometers from Earth.
