Cocoa helps lower elevated blood pressure and thereby reduces the risk of stroke or heart attacks.
This is evidenced by the results of researches of German scientists of the University clinic of Cologne, reports MedikForum.
Volunteers in the experiment included in your diet foods and drinks rich in cocoa. Whereas the control group did not consume these products – they have been given special medications from hypertension. At the end of the experiment and data processing scientists have recognized that the presence of cocoa in the diet of the people led to a real reduction of high blood pressure.
“The results of the study suggest that consumption of cocoa reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks by 10-20%,” – said the scientists.
Cocoa beans contain a lot of flavonoids – these substances normalize blood pressure and stimulate blood flow to internal organs.
Most products containing cocoa are very high in calories. Therefore, it is recommended to drink cocoa without sugar, and also controlling the amount of fat consumed.
