According to the results of sociological research of Institute of Gorshenin and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, 51,2 % of the population would support Ukraine’s accession to NATO in case of carrying out the referendum.
This statement was made by first Vice-President of the Gorshenin Institute Viktor Sokolov, informs a portal “Hvilya”.
Against Ukraine’s accession to NATO would vote 30.1% of respondents.
13.5% of respondents are unable to answer the question. 5.2% of respondents said they would ignore the vote.
According to the survey of the Gorshenin Institute in February 2008 the initiative of Ukraine’s accession to NATO was supported by 19.2% of respondents in may 2013, the figure rose to 35.3 %.
In June of 2014 for Ukraine’s accession to the North Atlantic Alliance would have voted for 47.3 % (in the survey was attended by residents of the Crimean Peninsula and parts of the territories in the Donbas).
Most support the initiative of joining the Alliance show the inhabitants of the West (72.1 per cent) and Northern regions of Ukraine (62,3 %). In the Eastern regions is ready to vote in favour of 28.1 % of respondents in the South was 29.5 %.
Among people aged 18-29 support the country’s entry into NATO of 55.9 %. The least support among the respondents in the age category 60+ – 45 %.
The survey was attended by 2 thousand people aged 18 years from all regions, except Crimea and the occupied territories in the Donbas. The accuracy of research results of about 2.2 %.
