Automakers BMW Group and Mercedes-Benz AG to temporarily stop the joint development of the technology of Autonomous cars.

In particular, as reports a press-service of the BMW, the decision was taken “after careful analysis” and is the result of a “mutual and amicable agreement”.
Both companies do not exclude that in the future this area will be restored.
“BMW and Mercedes are working together on new generations for highly automated driving and reached this sphere considerable success. However, the company was unable “to carry out a detailed expert discussions and negotiate with suppliers on technology road maps, while the contract was not signed last year.”

As previously reported, last summer the company Waymo group Alphabet has signed an agreement with French automaker Renault and its Japanese partner Nissan on cooperation in the development and implementation of unmanned vehicles to world markets.
In January it became known that the company Cruise, daughter of General Motors, revealed its first Autonomous car, developed in collaboration with Honda.
