The decision of the UN Tribunal
UN international Tribunal ruled on the Ukrainian seamen, which Russia illegally seized at sea in November 2018. Thus, the Tribunal in Hamburg has ordered Russia to immediately release 24 prisoners of Ukrainians from captivity, and give 3 of the captured ship.
The decision of the Tribunal declared him the Chairman of the South Korean Pak Hyon Jin. It particularly says that the continued detention of Ukrainian sailors is a concern in the “humanitarian context” and there is a real risk of irreparable harm to the rights of Ukraine.
The court considers it necessary to demand that Russia immediately release three detained Ukrainian ship “Nikopol”, “Berdyansk” and “Yana Kapu”, and 24 detainees sailor, and allow them to return to Ukraine, he said.
For this decision voted 19 judges were against one Russian judge Roman Kolodkin.
The Russian foreign Ministry immediately responded to this decision of the international Tribunal of the UN. They said that the Tribunal did not have the right to review the case. The statement of the Russian head of the Ukrainian foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin called “toothless and lethargic”.
How else to react to the policy decision of the international Tribunal of the United Nations:
UN international Tribunal for the law of the sea can only oblige Russia to release Ukrainian prisoners of sailors and their vessels, which he did. If Russia does not fulfill the conditions, it will mean direct violation of the norms and rules of international law. Therefore, in the future the Kremlin will not be able to apply to other international courts to protect their interests.
As Ukrainian sailors and the ships fell into Russian captivity? 25 November 2018, the Russian border guards rammed the tug of the Ukrainian military in the Azov sea on their way to Mariupol.
A little later, the Russians fired at Ukrainian ships, resulting in injuring 3 sailors. Russia captured 3 Ukrainian vessel (boat “Nikopol” and “Berdyansk” and the tug “Yana Capa”), and 24 crew members were taken prisoner.
Ukrainians were sent to a Moscow prison. There they were detained, and periodically extend arrests.
