Canadian author convicted of murder in California

Canadian author Blake Leibel was convicted on Wednesday of the torture and premeditated murder of his girlfriend by a jury in Los Angeles, California.
The 37 – year – old man could be jailed for life on June 26.

The police found Iana Kaisan’s bloody body in May 2016 in the apartment the couple was sharing in West Hollywood.

The 30-year-old was apparently tortured before she was finally killed. She had given birth to their first child a few weeks earlier.

Blake Leibel is the son of Lorne Leibel, a member of the Canadian sailing team at the 1976 Olympic games in Montreal. Mr. Leibel then made his fortune in real estate in Toronto.

Blake Leibel lived off the family fortune. He is the author of the novel “Syndrome,” published in 2010, in which there are apparently bloody scenes that resemble Ms. Kaisan’s murder.
