The Russian foreign Ministry said about the satisfaction of solving inter-state arbitration in the Hague in the case of the seizure of the Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait, which had previously established the order of work and rules of procedures. On Monday, November 25, said the Russian foreign Ministry reports.
“The Russian Federation is fully satisfied with the decision, which takes into account all its fundamental proposals made during the meeting in the Hague on the eve of arbitration. The Tribunal supported the approaches of Russia and at other important issues that zeroed Kiev’s attempts to maximally complicate the procedural position of Russia in the present proceedings”, – claim in Department.
As noted, the requirements of Ukraine on reducing the time proceedings were ignored, in this case the judge took into account Russian arguments and divided the hearing into two stages, and the jurisdictional dispute on the merits.
“In this case, each of the parties given six months to prepare their memoranda (Ukraine insisted on two months), which corresponds to the practice of international arbitral tribunals formed on the basis of the 1982 Convention”, – summed up in Moscow.
We will remind, on 21 November in the Hague began its first hearings of the Arbitration Tribunal formed in accordance with the application of the UN Convention on the law of the sea regarding the capture of three Ukrainian naval ships and 24 members of their crews. Ukraine hopes for prompt consideration of the merits.
