In the GDR this picturesque castle fell into a depressing state, but after the reunification of Germany was saved and now passed to the new owner.
Rietz-Neuendorf • This Baroque castle was built near the Brandenburg village of Gros Ritz in 1693-1700 years. Now considered one of the best examples of this architecture of the Baroque period in this Federal state of Germany. First belonged to one of the oldest noble families of Prussia, the von der Marwitz (von der Marwitz), then changed owners several times, rented, and after the Second world war it was nationalized by the East German authorities.
In the GDR in the castle groß Rietz (Schloss Gro? Rietz) housed a kindergarten and apartments for the Germans who were deported after the war from Eastern Europe. The local Park has been divided into gardens for the local population.
After the reunification of Germany the castle was in poor condition, became the property of a special land Fund, whose task was the preservation of architectural heritage – palaces, castles and parks of Brandenburg. On restoration of the historical appearance of the castle had spent more than five million euros.
Some time ago, this and several other castles were sold to new owners. Buyers had to submit concepts for the use of the architecture in the future and to ensure implementation of plans.
In the premises of the castle groß Rietz is a Museum of the Dresden artist Rosenhauer Theodor (Theodor Rosenhauer, 1901-1996) – native grandfather’s new owner, businessman from Hamburg Bangers Percy (Percy Bongers), and also exhibited a large collection of works of folk art from the Ore mountains.
The transaction amount was not disclosed but according to local media, citing data about the starting price in the documents of the brokers, it must exceed one million euros.
