Serial production of the BMW electrocreaser iX3 will start in late summer.
German automaker BMW has confirmed that preparations for the serial production of electric crossover BMW iX3 goes according to plan and showed the photographs of the Assembly process of the test instances of the model in China.
“Pre-production BMW iX3 required for testing and certification by regulatory bodies, are collected in China since the middle of last year. During this time the Assembly line has moved down more than 200 electric vehicles that participated in the test-drive on Chinese roads. The results of this testing, the engineers made some final touches to the design and configuration of the model. For example, in the last four weeks of the test electric cars travelled 7700 kilometres, and the developers spent 340 hours of tests”, – stated in the message.
It is noted that the serial production of the BMW electrocreaser iX3 starts in late summer at the facilities of the joint venture BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA), with the first customers will receive their copies before the end of 2020.
“I wonder what the engine version of the BMW X3 and the all-electric BMW iX3 will be assembled on one production line, which will make it possible to vary the production volumes required configurations in the case of unexpected changes in demand. The model will be the first car brand, which will be offered in four versions: petrol, diesel, hybrid and all-electric” – emphasizes the publication.
Note that the serial electric car BMW iX3 will get a new version of the BMW eDrive fifth generation, which differs by 30% improved ratio of power to mass (in 2021 it will appear in the BMW i4 and BMW iNEXT). Electric motor power is 210 kW (286 HP) torque – 400 Nm will be used for the classic brand rear-wheel drive. Batteries with a capacity of 74 kWh will provide a reserve of 440 km on the test cycle WLTP.
