Damage from the fire in the Chernobyl exclusion zone is estimated at tens of millions UAH.
This was during the online briefing, said the acting Chairman of the State Agency for exclusion Zone management Ekaterina Pavlova.
“The damage can assess at a glance in the tens of millions of hryvnia,” – said Pavlov.
According to her, the exact size of the completed fire areas are impossible to establish because of the big smoke, but as of April 8, it was estimated at 3.5 thousand hectares.
According to Pavlova, in the exclusion zone over the last 5 years didn’t take enough measures to prevent such fires.
“The situation that has developed today, is due?? many factors such as climate change, for everyone to see how it was winter and all this dry grass, dead trees, it very quickly ignites… A fire breaks not done and not resulted in that condition so that we could keep the scale of the fire,” – said Pavlov.
She noted that the GAS will prepare a plan of measures to ensure that in the future to be prepared for such situations.
“Today we were not ready, the infrastructure to eliminate and prevent such fires, we are not ready,” – said Pavlov.
