That Hyundai intends to construct in Russia factory on manufacture of engines, it became known in 2018, and on the eve of a solemn ceremony of launching the construction of the enterprise.
Today, Hyundai owns plants for the production of engines in Korea, China, and Mexico. The Russian site for the production of engines by Hyundai is located in the immediate vicinity of the automotive plant near St. Petersburg. Investment in the construction of the engine plant will be about 13.1 billion Russian rubles. Total area of the plant, which will consist of more than 500 workers, will exceed 36 thousand square meters.
The plant will produce atmospheric engine family Gamma of 1.6 liters with a system of variable valve timing. The company will be processing basic engine parts and their subsequent Assembly, and major components that are planned to locate in Saint-Petersburg is the cylinder block, cylinder head and crankshaft. In the first stage of work engine plant Hyundai plans to produce 240 thousand engines per year, working in two shifts. In the future, the capacity could increase to 330 thousand engines.
