Zelensky and Merkel discussed the work in Normandy format
The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in the course of a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed the situation in the Donbas. He also thanked her for her position on the impossibility of returning of Russia in “group of seven”.
This is stated in the message on the website of the President.
It is reported that the parties discussed the issues of restoring peace in the Donbas and the results of the visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Germany.
“It was a very informative visit which will give impetus to the Norman format,” said Zelensky.
They also made special emphasis on the need to implement all the agreements reached during the Paris summit of the “Normandy Quartet.” In this regard, the President of Ukraine stated the need for access to the red cross for verification of prisoners in the Donbas, as well as the access of the monitoring mission of the OSCE.
“Effective implementation of the agreements reached last year in Paris, should open the way for the holding of the next summit in Berlin” – said Zelensky and added that Kyiv is set to the maximum coordination of efforts with partners in the field of peaceful settlement.
In addition, he thanked the Chancellor for a clear and consistent position regarding the impossibility of changing the format of the “Big seven” until the full restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
It should be noted at the talks in Germany, the head office of the President Andrey Ermak emphasized that Ukraine insists on the speedy implementation of the agreements of the summit in Paris.
