More than 1,400 events were attended by around 700,000 people. On this day, may 9, announced the Director of the Department of communication of the National police of Ukraine Yaroslav was Trakalo.

“According to him, today in Ukraine there have been more than 1,400 events on the occasion of victory Day over Nazism in the Second world war. In them took part almost 700 000 people. To law enforcement were involved in nearly 22,000 law enforcement officers. Among them is 19.3 thousands of police and 2,5 thousand soldiers of the national guard.

Mass events in the state passed off peacefully and without serious violations of public order. Most popular they were in Kiev, Odessa, Dnepr and Zaporozhye. At the moment, the commemorative events almost everywhere ended.

At the same time Yaroslav was Trakalo noted that currently, police reported 33 accidents related to the use of banned symbols. Most of these events were recorded in Dnipropetrovsk (7), Nicholas (5) and Odessa (3) regions and in Kyiv (6).

13 messages from this number related to the use of “Georgievsky ribbons”, 15 more events were associated with the use of other banned symbols (red flags, symbols of the hammer and sickle).

Therefore, 13 the facts as the police have already made administrative materials according to article 173-3 (production and promotion of St. George (guards) ribbon) of the Code of Ukraine on administrative offences.

The Director of the Department of communication of national police also reported that the police brought in the Unified register of pretrial investigations the information about five events that qualified under part 1 of article 436-1 of the Criminal code of Ukraine. It criminalizes the manufacture, the spread of Communist, Nazi symbols and propaganda of the Communist and national socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes. Four such criminal proceedings opened in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and one in Odessa. The sanction of this article provides restriction of freedom for up to 5 years.

Also Yaroslav was Trakalo said police opened criminal proceedings under part 2 of article 296 (hooliganism) of the Criminal code of Ukraine. In one case, unknown persons threw stones at the buses moving from Krivoi Rog in the Dnieper. In the other case, criminal proceedings opened on the fact, when unknown persons threw red paint during the movement of the column of people. Another production started in Odessa under article 263 (illegal handling of weapons) of the criminal code. There during the filtration events on the walk of Fame law enforcement officers stopped the man with the brass knuckles.

“Overall the event went smoothly. This result is, of course, well-conducted preventive work of the police. Recall, on the eve of and in the capital, and on the ground with the organizers of the stated shares have been held discussions about preventing violations of the law, in particular the use of the current events is prohibited by the law of symbols of totalitarian regimes or provocations, ” – said the representative of the national police.
