National gallery of Hungary, the venue of the exhibition of paintings and sculptures of Amedeo Modigliani. 80 works by the Italian master, who died in poverty, and a century later became hardly probable not the most expensive artist in the world.
Says exhibition curator Anna Kovacs: “He painted a lot of Nudes, if he is “Nude” didn’t like it, he just did not finish. Modigliani was poor, he had no money on canvases, nor paints, so he atskilliga paint and used an old canvas”.
As is, he made about 30 sculptures. One of them was put up for auction, six years ago, it reached almost 65 million euros. Since the cost of the work of Modigliani has grown significantly.
“Sculpture Modigliani did between 1909 and 1914 years. He worked in a style that could be called art-utopianism, calling his sculpture – a giant jewels,” says Anna Kovach.
Exhibition in Budapest is open until the beginning of October.
