The company Facebook has uncovered a network of fake accounts, which, in particular, was used during the election campaign, 2019 in Ukraine.
This is stated in the message of the head of service cyber security company Nathaniel Gleicher.
A total of 72 were blocked Facebook account, 35 pages and 13 sections in Instagram.
“We removed 72 account in Facebook, 35 pages and 13 accounts in Instagram that have been implicated in coordinated behavior unreliable in Ukraine. This network was aimed at a domestic audience. The people behind this operation, used a fake account… to create fictitious personalities, posting in groups and pages, commenting on their own content,” the message reads.
It is noted that the network “was particularly active during the presidential and parliamentary elections of 2019 in Ukraine.” In particular, published political memes, satire and other content, “including about Crimea, NATO, the economic policy of Ukraine, internal politics, elections, criticism and support for various candidates, including Vladimir Zelensky, Yulia Tymoshenko and Petro Poroshenko.”
Network accounts were identified during the internal investigation Facebook.
“Although the people behind these activities, trying to hide his identity and coordination, our investigation has linked this activity with the advertising Agency in Ukraine Postmen DA”, – reported in Facebook.
According to company estimates, approximately 766 thousand accounts were included in the number of subscribers to “one or more pages,” referred to.
