System for messaging Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp in the coming year will be combined into a single ecosystem, which will allow you to send data from one application to another, says the NYT.
The founder of Facebook mark Zuckerberg plans to integrate the service for instant messaging social networking Facebook and Instagram with WhatsApp messenger, writes The New York Times (NYT), citing four sources.
This will require to rebuild and unify the work of the three systems at the most basic level, a source told the newspaper. The company plans to protect all messages end-to-end encryption to eliminate the possibility of data interception. A preliminary completion date of the project by the end of 2019 or beginning of 2020, a source told NYT.
It is expected that after completion of the project, users of one application will be able to correspond with his interlocutors in all three systems. For example, WhatsApp users can send messages to Instagram user, even if the latter have an account in WhatsApp.
The company Facebook, which owns WhatsApp and Instagram, expect that combining all three applications into a single ecosystem will increase the confidentiality of the data to better sell ads and compete with the messaging systems from Google and Apple.
In comments for Newspapers in Facebook reported that work on the simplification of correspondence. “We are working to protect our products for messaging end-to-end encryption and to propose methods for more easily sharing data with friends and family in social networks”, – said the representative of Facebook.
A plan to merge three different applications into a single ecosystem indicates a change in position of the founder of Facebook, who after the purchase of WhatsApp and Instagram promised them autonomy from the parent company, writes the NYT.
However, the readership of WhatsApp and Instagram has pushed Zuckerberg to the idea that closer integration will benefit the entire family of Facebook apps in the long term, said one of the interlocutors. According to other sources the NYT, in recent months, Zuckerberg has been promoting this idea among employees.
