The Ministry of economic development, trade and agriculture have modified the document according to which the duty on the importation from abroad of polymeric materials at the rate of 18% will be applied to a very narrow circle of the goods.
“On behalf of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ministry of economic development, trade and agriculture have modified the document according to which henceforth the customs duty on the importation from abroad of polymeric materials at the rate of 18% will be applied to a very narrow circle of the goods. These goods are produced in Ukraine, so the business will not incur additional costs”, – stated in the message. The Ministry noted that the decision aimed to protect national producers, as chemists, and manufacturers of finished products – Wallpaper, Windows, food packaging, etc. According to the head of Department Igor Petrashko, the decision is primarily a positive impact on the cost of final products in polymer processing.
“In Ukraine there are about 50 enterprises of such a profile. There are more than 30 thousand people. In connection with a difficult economic situation against the background of the pandemic in the world and in our country, – clarification of decision on provisional duties is needed. The economy Ministry a few days analyzed the markets where used polymers, and concluded that the restriction of goods for which the customs duty is a cost-effective and justified”, – said the Minister.
In practice, according to the economy Ministry, this will allow you to properly protect the national producers of polymers and to keep polymer processors ‘ production capacity, not reducing it, and also not to increase the final cost of the products. As a result, the solution will enable save jobs, which is one of the key tasks of the programme of activities of the Cabinet of Ministers, markets and foreign exchange earnings through the sale of goods for export.
As reported, according to the state statistics service, in January-April 2020 in Ukraine was imported polymer materials, plastic and products made of them by 1.04 billion (6.0 percent less than in the same period of 2019); export of these goods for the period made up of 218.6 million (1.3% more).
