The American company Ford is developing a fully electric pickup legendary series Ford F-150, which premiered in 1975.
This was at a meeting with journalists the head of global sales Jim Farley Ford, says ITC.
He noted that in addition to the existing internal combustion engine version of the truck the company will release a hybrid variant, and then a fully electric Ford F-150.
Working on a hybrid version is in 2015, but electric car will be a completely separate project, and not just a slightly modified hybrid.
Time-to-market is also not yet discussed, however, we are talking about the next 2-3 years, writes the edition.
In the U.S. market pickups Ford F-150 are among the most popular and recognizable vehicles (they account for a third of all Ford sales in the US), so it’s no surprise that the manufacturer decided to offer an option that will attract young and responsible users.
In the beginning of last year, Ford announced increased investment in the development of electric vehicles with $ 4.5 billion to $ 11 billion and plans to release six new electric cars already by 2022.
