The new law, in particular, expanded police powers and also allowed the local authorities to prevent the protests of individual citizens, which has previously acknowledged the initiators of the riots.

The head of the Ministry of internal Affairs of France Christophe Castaner said that the law will protect the country from violence and danger.

The bill approved by the French National Assembly (lower house of Parliament) in early February. Then the bill was supported by 387 deputies, 92 MP opposed.
