The servant of the people said that the de-monopolization of energy markets is a priority.
The official representative of President Vladimir Zelensky in the government Andriy Gerus said that it will offer the team a servant of the people as energy initiatives.
This became known thanks to Ukrainian media reports.
“At the meeting with European Commissioner for European neighbourhood policy and negotiations to expand Johannes, Zelensky said that the de-monopolization of energy markets is one of our priorities. Opening up the market for imports of electricity will promote competition. For example, the power exchange in Hungary is cheaper than the rates of the Ukrainian coal-fired power plants. If we open for them the market of the Ukrainian coal plants in the face of competition will reduce prices,” he said in a recent interview.
“You also need to reduce energy consumption. The tariff issue due to the fact that we have too large heat loss in homes. Therefore, energy efficiency is a key issue. Another priority issue is to increase production of Ukrainian gas. If Naftogaz can’t increase production, the need to attract foreign investors. With the increase of gas production we will be able to waive expensive import,” said Gerus.
