The Eastern part of the United States felt the powerful effects of hurricane “Florence”. As a result, the streets of coastal towns of the States of North and South Carolina were flooded with water. Without light there are about 80 thousand people, reports “Radio Freedom”.
On the eve, forecasters warned that the situation will worsen when the storm will move in land. A hurricane can cause severe flooding, and the water will rise to a level of more than 4 meters, experts predict.
Now the wind speed is up to 155 miles per hour. However, the wind weakened, because earlier this week it reached 225 km/h.
Currently hurricane “Florence” is assigned to the second category, not the fourth, as it was in the beginning of the week. The local authority is asking residents of the region to be careful and to follow the changes of the situation.
“Do not relax, stay in a safe place. This is a powerful storm that could kill. Today, the threat becomes a reality”, – said the Governor of North Carolina Roy Cooper.
Note that the warning about the need to evacuate received the 1.7 million residents of South Carolina and Virginia. Just in the area with a high danger level is home to 5 million people.
The foreign Ministry advised Ukrainians to refrain from trips in the United States through a dangerous storm.
