Guy with down syndrome for the first time in Ukraine received higher education

Bogdan Kravchuk from Lutsk became a bachelor of history.

A resident of Lutsk Bogdan Kravchuk – Ukraine’s first young man with down syndrome who have received higher education. On July 11 he received a bachelor’s degree in history.

This was reported by an employee of the Institute of National remembrance Les Bondaruk.

“Today, a resident of Lutsk Bogdan Kravchuk received the diploma of bachelor history!!! He was the first in Ukraine a guy with down syndrome who have received higher education!”, – she wrote in Facebook.

Les Bondaruk remember how 5 years ago his mother Bogdan fought for his right to higher education.

“It turned out that the Soviet rule with the 70-ies of the ban on higher education for people with special needs can be overcome with modern approaches to education. A big thank you to the Minister of education Sergei Kvit, and his Deputy Pavlo Polyansky, who understood and supported the right of children with special needs in higher education,” she wrote.

According to her, all five years of study in Volyn national University. Lesya Ukrainka Bogdan conscientiously studied and were often much more successful than regular students.

“His example is a beacon of hope to many parents of children with special needs. Because now they know that if you believe in your children and develop their capabilities, dreams come true,” added Les Bondaruk.

Down syndrome is the most common cause of disorders of the brain among people, which occurs on average 1 out of 800 people on the planet. The cause of this syndrome is the presence of additional copies of one of 20 chromosomes carrying additional copies of hundreds of genes.
