Only 12.8 million to 28.5 million Ukrainians of working age are working legally, the rest either at work or working informally.
This was at the briefing on changes to employment legislation announced by the Minister of Economics Tymofiy mylovanov, reports hromadske.
“Today, 12.8 million from 28.5 million Ukrainians of working age are working legally. Half of us are of working age or working in another country, or running informal”, – said the Minister.
According to him, informal employment means that the majority of Ukrainians are not protected by the labour legislation.
“Changes in the Labour code, which offers the government must promote legal employment and growth in the number of jobs,” said Milovanov.
On 27 December, the government approved the draft law on labour, the Prime Minister said Alexei Goncharuk, the law provides for an increase in the number of legal jobs, increasing income and expanding the social rights of workers.

“You know that it is very difficult now to dismiss a person, to take him to work. Now they (the government – EP) are working on modern labor legislation and the labor code. There are many offers and a lot of small bugs which will be cleaned. I am sure that we will do and hear society,” the President said.
