The event will take place on the Racecourse Monteblanco (Monteblanco) in Spain. There was the first race in the world of fully Autonomous cars. The contest was attended by two teams opposing each other in Autonomous driving and car racing. As a result, the Arrival team surpassed rivals from the Technical University of Munich.
The race involved cars that run on electricity, which can output 402 horsepower. Without the driver the car is capable of speeds up to 320 km/h. Each of the cars participating in the race, had to equip 5 of lidar, 2 radar, 18 ultrasonic sensors, the receiver signals of a satellite navigation system, 6 cameras, 2 optical speed sensor and hardware-based Nvidia Drive PX2. In the process the cars used algorithms that were created in each of the teams.
Of course, this event cannot be called a race as to reduce the likelihood of emergency was imposed certain limitations. For example, overtaking is only allowed on the main straight part of the track, and upon confirmation of this from the overtaken car. If the vehicle travelling behind, close enough was close to going in front before going on the line, then automatically send the request to overtake. In turn high-end machine, adopting such a query should skip the competitor while in motion on a straight section.
Because of the limitations of the race was not too spectacular. The cars were very fast, but without the element of human risk and driving skill all looked quite dry. Perhaps in the future such events will become more spectacular and can attract the attention of fans of racing from around the world.
