Leakage of carbon dioxide on a cargo ship in the port of Longyan in China’s Shandong province has caused the deaths of 10 people. It is reported by Xinhua on Sunday, may 26.
It is noted that the incident occurred the day before on the ship from Fujian province. Another 19 people were injured and were hospitalized to the local hospital.
A preliminary investigation showed that carbon dioxide had leaked from a fire due to improper operation. Responsible for the accident are in police custody, the statement reads.
