In Georgia, law enforcement was arrested about 11 players from-for suspicions in the organisation of contractual matches.
Eight current players and three former players arrested for his involvement in match-fixing in two leading national leagues. It is reported by the Georgian security Service.
Under suspicion there was two matches with participation of commands of the higher League of the Georgian: “Vit–Georgia” – “Dynamo” (Batumi) (0:2), and the duel between the representatives of the second League “Guria” – “Merani” (1:3). Participants earned about 34 thousand dollars.
According to Georgian legislation, the players could face four to six years behind bars.
The Georgian football Federation said that it cooperated with the investigation. Two-time Champions League winner, former player of Kiev “Dynamo” Kakha Kaladze, who is now the mayor of Tbilisi has condemned match-fixing. “It’s not a sport, it’s something else,” he told Georgian television.
