In the German port city of Hamburg law enforcement authorities seized 4.5 tons of cocaine in the amount of 1 billion euros.
According to the statements of the representatives of the customs service of Hamburg, the cargo container with the illegal cargo was discovered two weeks ago on arrival from Uruguayan capital Montevideo. The item was sent to the Belgian city of Antwerp.
Initially, carriers of drugs indicated that the inside containers are soybeans. Instead of these products, the customs officers found 221 black bags containing 4,200 packages of compressed cocaine.
At the moment it is the largest seizure of cocaine in Germany, said the Prosecutor’s office in Hamburg.
