In a demonstration under the slogan Stop 5G was attended by several thousand people. Some of them referred to the introduction of the fifth generation of mobile communications in Switzerland, “crime against human rights.”

“The fact that today on the streets so many people, is a powerful signal against the uncontrolled introduction of 5G networks,” wrote in a communiqué of the meeting, one of the organizers Tamlyn Schieber Ullman.

5G opponents believe that this mobile technology can seriously affect the health of the population and the environment. They emphasize that the risks which it bears, as yet unknown, and try to collect 100 thousand signatures to hold a referendum on moratorium of new technology to their dispute. In addition, activists need to accelerate the development of a fiber optic connection, which, in their opinion, is harmless.

Currently, several studies of the impact of new technologies on human health. The world health organization announced that beginning “to assess health risks from exposure to RF fields.” In 2018, the Swiss government has also appointed a group of experts to study the risks associated with the introduction of 5G. Their findings should be published before the end of the year.
