Zimbabwean rescuers brought to the surface the bodies of at least 22 miners from illegal mines West of the capital Harare, reports Reuters. Eight people were saved.
The accident at the mine – flooding due to heavy rains occurred on Tuesday, February 12.
At the moment of failure underground there were about 70 miners. The exact number of victims will be known later, after the experts will be pumped water from the tunnels.
Last year, Zimbabwe produced 33 tons of gold bullion.
