4 February in the Dominican Republic, an earthquake of magnitude 5.3 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was located about 53 km from the main resort of the country – Punta Cana.
The tremors were felt across the country – in the Eastern, southern, Northern and in the center of the Dominican Republic.
The earthquake was also felt in the Bahamas, Haiti, Puerto Rico and Turks and Caicos Islands.
“The description of the locals in Bavaro after a small underground tremor was a strong jolt, which shook the house and literally jumped loose objects. The shelves fell down items, scared animals”, – stated in the message.
About destructions and victims is not reported.
This is the second in a few days of extreme natural phenomenon in the Dominican Republic. 30 January in the Central regions of the country, in a mountainous area in the region of Constanta, the snow fell. At sunrise national Park Parque Nacional Juan Bautista Pérez Rancier was so low temperature that plants transport, road covered with a thin layer of ice and snow.
