Chicken is cheaper in Ukraine due to a decline in sales of fillets in the EU and increase sales in the Middle East.
About this UKRINFORM reported in the MHP.
“Prices in the second quarter and the first half of 2020 decreased mainly due to the change in product mix (a significant decline in sales of fillets to the EU and increased sales to the Middle East) and low prices for fillets in the EU”, – stated in the message.
On the MHP noted that the average price of chicken in the second quarter of 2020 (in Ukraine and for export) amounted 34,16 UAH per 1 kg natural weight (US $1,27) (without VAT) and decreased by 15% in local currency. The average price of chicken in the first half of 2020 was 34,30 UAH (US $1,32), which is 13% lower in local currency compared to the price in the first half of 2019.
At the same time, exports of chicken in the first half of 2020 decreased by 10% compared to the first half of 2019 (190484 tons) and amounted to 170 553 tons.
“Despite difficult times, MHP continued to follow the strategy of geographical diversification and optimization of the grocery mix, guiding the main volume of export of chicken meat mainly in the Middle East, CIS and Africa. Total exports of chicken in the first half of 2020 was around 52% vs. 55% for the first half of 2019 from total sales of chicken meat”, – noted in the holding.
MHP is the leading poultry producer in Ukraine with the greatest market share, but also in the Balkans and in the EU. MHP owns and controls all stages of poultry production: from cultivation of grains and oilseeds, feed production to production of hatching eggs and broiler rearing livestock, processing, marketing, distribution and sale of poultry meat.
