Unnamed interlocutors of these publications claim that the Russians were heading to Switzerland to get the data of the laboratory in Spiez, which, among other things, helps to investigate the chemical attack in Syria and the poisoning of Sergey and Julia the Violinist in the British Salisbury.

Previously, this laboratory has become the object of hacker attacks. It is noted that Russian agents were carrying special equipment for penetration into a computer network.

The detention of spies was the result of a joint operation of special services of the Netherlands, Switzerland and the UK. The Federal intelligence service of Switzerland has confirmed its participation in the operation.
