Yesterday it became known that Cyberpunk 2077 will support ray tracing. NVIDIA has unveiled a pair of screenshots with demonstration of technology, one of which was the cause of an Internet scandal. Harmless at first glance, the picture hidden in the catch…
Came under fire picture contains an ad that flaunts the female figure. If you look at “the lady” carefully, you can see her bulging surprise. Advertising with the caption “16 flavors you would like to mix” is dedicated to a soft drink called ChroMaticure. The slogan above says Mix It Up (“Bring diversity” or something like that), which probably is a reference to the transgender in the picture.
Progressive Western society has considered it a mockery, at the same time remembering past sins CD Projekt. Thus, the company already teased on Twitter over the TRANS-community and apologized for a similar joke from their store GOG.com.
The Polygon journalist attending E3 2019, decided to ask there present the art Director of Cyberpunk 2077 , the Cassia of Redesiuk (Kasia Redesiuk) responsible for creating a controversial image. As it turned out, she wasn’t invested in their work no mockery, on the contrary, laid in her grave promise.
“For me personally, this man is sexy, – commented on Redesiuk. – I like the looks of this man. However, this model is used (off her beautiful body in use) for corporate reasons. They [transgender people] are represented there just as things, and it’s awful”.
Redesiuk also said that the world of Cyberpunk 2077 includes many people that do not meet gender norms, and some of them like to show their bodies in public. They represent the demographic group with considerable purchasing power, so megacorporations use their image for sales of non-alcoholic beverages.
This is assumed to be an analogue hypersexualizing advertising, which is used by modern companies. CD Projekt RED just trying to adjust this is their vision of the future.
“In 2077-m, especially considering the number of available body modifications, I think people just mix and align their wishes and feelings, – says Redesiuk. – And even society more open to relationships of various kinds”.
According to Redesiuk, all the advertising in the game is made with an eye on the sharpness and aggression, and the exploitation of the image of transgender is just one example of many. In the dystopian world of Cyberpunk 2077 from the hypersexualization affects all, regardless of gender.
Redesiuk believes that this fictitious ad is also an attempt to raise empathy for the LGBT community among the players.
“We need it, explains Redesiuk. – I sincerely believe that we need more recognition in the world and we must also show how the goodness of people sometimes used against them. And I would really like to see the world changed for the better for all”.
