The London-based research group Forensic Architecture reported new evidence of the participation of Russian troops in the war in the East of Ukraine, reports ONLINE.UA with reference to The Guardian.
The researchers collected evidence of Russian military intervention during the battle for Ilovaisk the Donetsk region in August 2014. These data will be used in the lawsuit to the European court of human rights. They have to make public on 19 August.
According to the publication, the evidence includes multiple satellite images of Russian military convoys in Ukraine and tanks “T-72B3”. At the time fighting this model of tanks only used Russia’s Armed forces.
Group Forensic Architecture used software that allowed to perform 2500 hours of videos published by the people of the region for YouTube in the summer of 2014.
As you know, the regular Russian troops invaded Georgia on August 23-24, 2014 in the area of the settlement Starobeshevo. The purpose of the invasion of Russian forces has been using the illegal armed groups during the battle for Ilovaysk. A few days later the Russian army crossed the border South of the Donetsk region and seized the Ukrainian town of Novoazovsk.
According to the PGO, in the night of 24 August 2014, troops of the defense Ministry, which invaded the Ukraine, consisted of nine battalion tactical groups: 3.5 thousand people, 60 tanks; up to 320 BMD (BMP), 60 guns, 45 mortars, and 5 anti-tank systems.
