In the United States court issued a warrant for the arrest of Iranian tankers Grace 1, released earlier by the authorities of Gibraltar. A statement posted Friday on the website of the US Department of justice.
The authorities of Gibraltar had freed the tanker after receiving official assurances from Iran that the vessel to unload crude oil in Syria.
“A warrant for the arrest of the tanker was issued today by the Federal court for the district of Columbia, according to him, Grace oil tanker 1, petroleum products transported on Board, and also the sum of $995 thousand will be confiscated in connection with the violation of the law “international emergency economic powers”, and [accusations] of Bank fraud, money laundering and the financing of terrorism,” the statement said.
The U.S. Department of justice also noted that court documents revealed the scheme of “illegal access to the U.S. financial system to support in violation of the laws of deliveries in Syria by the Islamic revolutionary guard Corps (IRGC), a recognized foreign terrorist organization.”
According to the Ministry of justice, the scheme involved “several parties associated with the IRGC”.
