Spawning ban starts from April 1.
From 1 April 2019 in 22 regions of Ukraine, including Zaporozhye, spawning starts a ban on catching fish and crayfish.
The ban also applies to the Vinnytsia, Volyn, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, Luhansk, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kirovohrad, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Kherson, Khmelnytsky, Chernivtsi, Cherkasy and Chernihiv region. The terms of the ban in different places of the Zaporizhzhya region is different. So, on the Dnieper reservoir restrictions will apply from April 1 until June 9, in the Kakhovka from 10 April until 18 June. In the rivers – from 1 April to 21 may, in the subordinate systems of water bodies (creeks, streams) from 1 April to 30 June.
The prohibition applies to not only catch fish but also crayfish. They cannot be caught from April 10 to June 1.
During spawning allowed only sport and recreational fishing (one fishing rod with one hook). It is possible to fish only from the shore in appropriate locations outside the spawning nests. The maximum catch quota – 3 kg fish.
For violation of rules of fishing, the fishermen face a fine from 34 to 680 UAH. For the illegal occupation of fishing provides for criminal liability – a fine from 1700 to 3400 UAH or 3 years in prison.
