In Ukraine are preparing a pilot project for the closure of the mines in one of the cities on the German experience.
This was announced by the interim acting Minister of energy Olga Bukovec in an interview with Radio Liberty.
“We have… today there is an agreement with the German side. Was and call the Prime Minister to German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, they discussed this issue, and I have had talks with the Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine concerning assistance for the comprehensive work as part of a pilot project with the experience of Germany and the closure of some company towns, which we define together with them according to certain criteria,” – said Bukovec.
According to her, Ukraine has almost 65 single-industry towns, in which people can get to work soon on mine. “And, as a rule, single working person who feeds the whole family. And we need to understand how we need to protect these people, to give the opportunity to transform these regions to work,” – said the head of Ministry of energy.
She said that the pilot project will be implemented as to address the social, environmental issues, and to provide jobs for people living in this one-industry town.
At the same time, Bukovec said city to implement a “pilot” haven’t decided.
“There are certain criteria. We are of course going to work working group in order to determine” she said.
As reported, on June 30 in Kiev began an indefinite protest of miners from different regions of Ukraine. Among the requirements of the miners, in particular, the repayment of debt on salary payment to workers of the state mines, which as of July 1, exceeded UAH 1.2 bn; dismissal from the post of Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on energy and housing and communal services of Andrei Gerus; ban of import of electricity and coal gas brands from Russia and Belarus.
The miners also demand to oblige the state property Fund of Ukraine, PJSC “Centrenergo”, SE “Googlefortune” SE “Kalush TPP-New” full pay mining companies for the coal.
