In Ukraine started the project of lending to small and medium businesses in the agricultural sector with the participation of the European investment Bank.
“November 28, Deputy Minister of economic development, trade and agriculture of Ukraine Inna Meteleva took part in the official launching event of the project “Technical assistance to support implementation of operation “the principal credit for the agricultural sector – Ukraine””, – stated in the message.
It is noted that this project is being implemented with support from the European investment Bank in the framework of the signed Financial agreement between Ukraine and the European investment Bank, which was ratified by Act of 20 September 2016.
10 July 2019, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a decree №606 “On the implementation of the joint EIB project “the Main credit for the agricultural sector – Ukraine”.
The aim of the project is the creation in Ukraine of administrative, technical, financial and educational foundations to support manufacturers in the industry of grain, oilseeds and aquaculture/fisheries.
“The loan from the European investment Bank should become a real tool to support business development for small and medium-sized producers. Under the terms of the project to the original amount of 400 million euros from the European investment Bank must be added another EUR 400 million from Ukrainian banks – participants of the Project”, – explained in the Ministry.
In accordance with the project plan funding in the following areas: primary production of grains and oilseeds, development, upgrading and certification of facilities for drying, cleaning, sorting, testing and storage of grains and oilseeds, reconstruction of production capacity of aquaculture and fisheries, equipment and infrastructure for fish processing and canning, experimental station, testing laboratories, equipment for research and training, distribution of agricultural knowledge and certification, control and monitoring of fisheries.
As reported in the press service, the official launching event of the project took part the head of the Permanent mission of the European investment Bank in Ukraine Jean-Erik de Zagon, head of cooperation programmes of the EU delegation to Ukraine Stefan Slaying, Deputy chief of mission at the British Embassy in Ukraine Helen Feizi, representatives of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, EIB, financial institutions and industry experts.
