In Iraqi Kurdistan held elections to the regional Parliament – almost exactly a year after the referendum on independence. On 111 seats in Parliament claim 673 candidates from 29 political parties. 11 seats reserved for representatives of ethnic and religious minorities – Turkmen, Armenians and Christian Assyrians.

Main rivals in the election, conservative Democratic party of Kurdistan led by Massoud Barzani (President of Iraqi Kurdistan in 2005-2017 gg.) and left Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, headed by Kosrat Rasul Ali.

Elections are observed by representatives of more than 20 local and international organizations.
