A leading Italian manufacturer of electric motorcycles Energica is preparing to return to high sales figures after the end of the current quarantine measures against pandemic COVID-19, ravaging the country. CEO of Cevolini Livia (Livia Cevolini) told how she is going to do it.
Italy was definitely one of the first European hot spots in the current situation with coronavirus. Currently, the country has registered about 150 thousand confirmed cases and 19 thousand deaths from COVID-19. The pandemic has led to a nationwide quarantine designed to slow the spread of the virus in Italy.
Like all businesses, do not produce commodities, Energica also ceased operations, putting an end to the rapid growth of sales of their products and the rapid increase in production in early 2020. It is worth saying that before the end of February 2020 Energica announced that in less than two months exceeded their sales for the entire 2019.
Now Energica plans after the recession of the pandemic to resume production and continue the sale outlined in the beginning of the year. Libya Chevaline in the comments Electrek said:
“We still face an unprecedented global challenge. In these difficult times also need not to stop our beating heart of the Italian production, which has made us unique in the world. I agree with the General Confederation of Italian industry that you need to decide on plans for the safe resumption of activities. For this reason, the Energica has begun to take measures to restore production at the same time reinforcing the protections that were in place before closing.
Our production can resume work no more than 30 people on the area of 3000 square meters, organized in two or more shifts to increase the distance between people. How to quarantine every employee to work in medical masks and gloves. Disinfection will be applied to incoming and outgoing goods.”
In addition to the physical measures to protect their staff, Energica and worked on addressing their financial security. Many Americans are concerned about coronavirus-related hospital bills, can reach tens of thousands of dollars, but Energica included mandatory insurance COVID-19 from 16 March until the end of 2020 for its entire staff.
The Italian government has not yet indicated the date when the company will be able to resume their activities. However, the Energica has been preparing for this opportunity to return to partial work as soon as possible. Since the vast majority of supply chains Energica (over 80 %) are in Italy, it is expected that a large part of its activities will start simultaneously with the lifting of the ban by the authorities.
Along with Lightning and Harley-Davidson, Energica is one of the few manufacturers of electric motorcycles that offer high-speed charging constant current. In the past year, the Energica has unveiled a new series of electric motorcycles, other than one of the highest capacity batteries. This allowed to increase the cruising range on a single charge more than 60 %, up to 400 km around the city.
