Looting and destruction of irrigation systems in the Donetsk region in 2014, the Azov battalion has become the subject of an investigation by the attorney General’s Office. This is stated in the respective request of the people’s Deputy from “Oppositional platform For life” Ilya Kiva to the Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova.

“In 2014 during the anti-terrorist operation in the East of Ukraine took place the illegal actions of representatives of the Azov regiment, which is stationed in Mariupol. We are talking about a systematic destruction and looting of irrigation system on the territory of Donetsk region representatives of the regiment. Using a technique they carried out the dismantling of elements of the system – dug cast-iron pipes for further sales for scrap”, – the document says.

Ilya Kiva said that previously drew attention to the offences of the representatives of this regiment, and even opposed to them.

“Being at that time commander of the battalion “Poltava” (the dislocation while PGT volodarskoe), I have repeatedly thwarted the attempts of embezzlement and other criminal activities of members of the regiment “Azov” detained them and transported to the local police Department, but managed to avoid responsibility”, – said the MP.

He also noticed that the Deputy’s appeal should be considered reported on the Commission of a criminal offense in accordance with article 214 of the CPC of Ukraine.

“The above actions of the management and representatives of the “Azov” was unlawful and caused significant damage to state property,” – the document says.
