Russian actors spoke in support of the historian, head of the Karelian “Memorial” Yuri Dmitriev, who is on trial on charges of violent acts of a sexual nature against foster daughter. It is threatened by punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty for a term up to 20 years. The criminal process lasts from 2016, spring 2018 Dmitrieva was acquitted on two counts, but the Supreme court of Karelia canceled the sentence and sent the case for reconsideration. Dmitriev’s colleagues believe he is being persecuted for his work. He’s 30 years old looking for places of mass executions in the North-West of Russia, finds them and restores the memory of the executed.
In the marathon of solidarity, announced “the New newspaper”, their video message in support of the historian recorded Konstantin Raikin, Oleg Basilashvili, Elena Koreneva, Cyril Kozak, Ksenia Rappoport, Inna Churikova, and other actors.
Videos in support of the jury will be out until July 6, when in the Petrozavodsk city court will resume the trial in the case of Dmitriyev.
