The Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba came to the defense of Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk, which former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder called a “dwarf.”
The head of the Ukrainian foreign Ministry told the newspaper Bild.
“It’s a sign of weakness – when you have to use such language instead of arguments. Of course, I stand on the side of its Ambassador. He defended the truth about the role of Mr. Schroeder in the Russian Federation”, – said Kuleba.
He expressed the hope that “Mr. Schroeder will be able to gather and continue the discussion in the framework of the European standards”.
The Minister also noted that the work of the ex-Chancellor as a lobbyist for Russian energy interests very well paid.
As reported in the first issue of their podcast, “Gerhard schröder – Agenda” a former German Chancellor called the Andrew Miller “a midget from the Ukraine,” whose criticism, nobody cares.
Miller replied: “Mr schröder will go down in history as a cynical lobbyist for the Kremlin in Germany, which shamelessly did not notice the war crimes of Russia in the East of Ukraine and Crimea… We, Ukrainians, do not feel nothing but pity for Mr Schroeder”.
Schroeder was Chancellor in 1998-2005, and now heads the Supervisory Board of the Russian company “Rosneft”, which came under EU sanctions imposed in 2014. He is also the Chairman of the Committee of shareholders of Nord Stream AG. Is considered to be a personal friend of Putin.
