Marathon: runner from Kenya set a new world record

Марафон: бегун из Кении установил новый мировой рекорд

Eliud Kipchoge, a runner from Kenya, won the Berlin marathon, breaking the world record. 33-year-old athlete overcame the distance in 2 hours 1 minute and 39 seconds. The previous world record was set in Berlin in 2014, another Kenyan athlete Dennis Kipruto Kimeto.

“I am very happy that I could break the world record, commented Kipchoge his victory. I believed in my training, and believed their coaches”. Kipchoge considered one of the best marathoners in history and has the title of Olympic champion at this distance.

In the women’s marathon in Berlin was won by the Kenyan Gleydis, Cherono with a time of 2 hours 18 minutes 11 seconds.
