In the framework of the working visit to Sarajevo, which this year took place the business forum of the European Bank for reconstruction and development (EBRD), the delegation of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine headed by the Minister of Finance Oksana Markarova was found with the key for Ukraine’s international partners. So, during a meeting with EBRD President Summa Chakrabarti discussed the current state of cooperation, the positive impact that the viewing of the portfolio of EBRD projects in Ukraine and further steps in their implementation.
At the meeting with the Vice-President of the world Bank for Europe and Central Asia Cyril Muller attention was paid to Ukraine’s progress in reform process as a driving force in the development of the country in the context of cooperation with the world Bank.
Deputy Secretary of the Treasury for international Finance and development Jeffrey Okamoto discussed the progress in the conduct of sound economic and fiscal policies, resulting in gradual improvement of economic indicators, as well as cooperation between Ukraine and the USA.
A meeting with the Director of the Department of international Finance of the UK Treasury and mark Bowman was devoted to the reform of the SFS, the avoidance of double taxation and the appointment of judges of the Supreme court anti-corruption as an indicator of progress in the fight against corruption.
In addition, the Minister of Finance Oksana Markarova together with the Director General of the General Directorate for neighbourhood policy and negotiations to expand the European Commission Katharina Mathernova and Director of the EBRD in the countries of Eastern Europe and the Caucasus Matteo Cartridges made as a speaker on the discussion panel “Ukraine – a continuation of the course of change” and “Migration in the EBRD region: transforming challenges into opportunities”.
“The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine adheres to the best practices of a prudent fiscal policy that allows us to fully and in a timely manner to service the debt. That is why the country managed to reduce it to 71,8% of GDP in 2017 to 60.9% of GDP in 2018. Fiscal consolidation also helped to keep the budget deficit at 2.4% of GDP in 2018 that was provided by the IMF program, and this year we plan to continue its decline,” – said during his speech Markarova.
According to her, continued cooperation plays an important role in the economic, political and social transformation of the country.
