Israel and Palestine have agreed to establish a cease-fire. It is reported by Agence France-Presse.
“On Thursday (14 November – ed.) agreement on a cease-fire came into effect at 05:30 local time (03:30 GMT) in the Gaza strip,” – said the Agency.
It is noted that the truce has been achieved directly through the efforts of Egypt.
On Wednesday evening in Cairo to discuss a possible truce with Israel has arrived the Secretary General of Islamic Jihad Ziad al-Nahal. Before that the capital of Egypt serving as a mediator in the negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, arrived from tel Aviv the UN special coordinator for the Middle East Mladenov to try to achieve a ceasefire between the parties.
“Ziyad al-Nakhal agreed to a cease fire provided that Israel also will stop the hostilities and guarantee the cease-fire during peaceful demonstrations in Gaza and stop the targeted killings of militants. A militant group in Gaza should in turn restore calm in the sector and to make sure that the demonstrations were peaceful in nature”, – stated in the message.
