Daimler unveiled its futuristic Mercedes-Benz Vision AVTR at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), created through the recently announced partnership with the franchise “Avatar.”
The show car was designed to “awaken the imagination” about what might be cars in the future.
The conceptual model focuses on the relationship between human, machine and nature, much like the symbolic relationship between the Na’vi people on Pandora from Avatar (and its upcoming sequels).
A cursory glance at AVTR Vision to understand that it is not similar to any production car. No traditional automotive controls, and instead, drivers just put your hand on the illuminated controller in the centre console, which measure different biometric parameters, including your heart rate.
The rest of the interior envelops the audience and opens them to the outside world, in particular due to the presence of a distinct accent lighting and sculptural forms and surfaces.
The decoration of the seats is vegan leather Dinamica, which is manufactured solely from recycled material, old clothes, flags and plastic bottles. A large part of the floor decorated with innovative tree, called Karuun made from rattan, a material found in abundance in some areas, including Indonesia.
At the rear of the Mercedes-Benz Vision AVTR includes a multifunction valve 33, which move simultaneously, simulating the breath and the movement of the creatures on Pandora. These flaps also double to improve aerodynamics.
The power plant is also very interesting and demonstrates the commitment of automakers to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. To power the car uses a revolutionary rechargeable battery with a capacity of 110 kWh using organic elemental composition based on graphene, which does not contain rare, toxic and expensive metals of the Earth, and this means that the battery is 100% recyclable. The battery can be recharged in just 15 minutes, and it provides a cruising range of 700 km.
The driving force behind the concept are four completely independent of the motor at each corner that produces 470 HP
